Presentation of the Award given by the Head of BPS RI to the Mayor of Pontianak

Pontianak - Head of BPS West Kalimantan Province, Moh. Wahyu Yulianto, accompanied by the Head of BPS Pontianak, Akhmad Fikri, presented the award given by the Head of BPS RI, Margo Yuwono, to the Mayor of Pontianak, Edi Kamtono, for his role in disseminating statistical data and building public literacy on statistics in Kalimantan Barat.

The meeting also discussed the Human Development Index (HDI) in the city of Pontianak. Moh. Wahyu Yulianto explained that the 2021 Pontianak City HDI was the highest in West Kalimantan Province with a value of 79.93. It is hoped that in the future the Pontianak City HDI can reach 80. Several indicators that affect the HDI are the components of health, education, and the highest achievement related to the Pontianak City Government intervention to maintain the level of public spending, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, Moh. Wahyu Yulianto also explained that the poverty rate calculated by BPS is macro poverty. That is, it does not refer to individual data "by name by address" but only looks at the level of poverty in West Kalimantan as a whole. "In the city of Pontianak itself, the macro poverty rate has decreased because of its approach to public consumption expenditure," he said.
